American & Brazilian Soccer Legends Reunite in 1994 World Cup Rematch on May 17 at Choctaw Stadium

ARLINGTON, TEXAS (Monday, April 24, 2026) – Thirty-two years ago in Palo Alto, California, a nation was captivated as its upstart national soccer team stood toe-to-toe with the greatest giant in the sport. An underdog American team in red, white and blue faced off with the iconic yellow shirts of Brazil on Independence Day, ultimately falling just short in a 1-0 defeat.
Next month, the stars from that match will reunite at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, as LIC, an MTR7 Soccer Legends company, presents the 94 Revival – USA-Brazil on Sunday, May 17 at 4:00 p.m. CDT. Choctaw Stadium debuted as the home of the Texas Rangers in 1994, making it a fitting venue for this one-of-a-kind match.
Tickets start at $15 and will go on sale to the general public Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. CDT. Visit 94revival.com to secure your seats.
Brazilian stars from that 1994 match who are confirmed to play in the revival game include World Cup 1994 Golden Ball winner Romario and his strike partner on that legendary team, Bebeto, who netted the winner for Brazil against the USA, and defender Jorginho.
“That may have been the most difficult match of our 1994 World Cup campaign,” Bebeto recently said. “Given all the circumstances — it was U.S. Independence Day, we were down to ten men, and they came at us hard and created chances. Fortunately, we managed to score and move forward on our path to the title.”
On the American side, 1994 World Cup stars Tab Ramos, John Harkes and Marcelo Balboa headline the squad, along with stars of later US World Cup squads such as FC Dallas legend Kenny Cooper.
The match is just the final piece on a full day of entertainment, including exciting pregame entertainment. Details on the pregame festivities will be announced soon.
On the morning of the match, players from both teams will lead a soccer clinic on the field with TOPSoccer at Choctaw Stadium just hours before the match kicks off. TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a recreational sports program for children and adults with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities offered only through local US Youth Soccer-affiliated soccer clubs. TOPSoccer provides people with diverse abilities an opportunity to play soccer in a structured environment that is safe, fun, supportive, and inclusive.
